A Colorful Valentine's

I absolutely love Valentine's Day! Well that could be an understatement. About five or six years ago I decided to unofficially yet officially switch my birthday to February 14th. Pink, candy, hearts, love I just can't get enough so why not make that my day every year!!!

In addition to Valentine's I love planning parties especially for kids. This year I am having a Valentine's Party for our weekly playgroup. Trexen and Paceler love all their friends in playgroup and I love the mamas. As planning began I quickly realized the boys would need a super cute, extra special valentine's card for each of their friends. Immediately I started surfing and found the cutest, no I mean most colorful one.

Here you go:

Have a Colorful Valentine's Day- thanks to The Long Thread

You will Need:
~Crayons
~Heart shaped muffin tin
~Oven

Step 1: Peel the paper off the crayons (easier said than done, this step took us forever)

Step 2: Break crayons into small pieces and put into muffin tin

Step 3: Place in preheated oven (250 degrees) for about 10 minutes or until the crayons melt

Step 4: Go to www.thelongthread.com and print the card, cut cards out

Step 5: Stick heart shaped crayon on the card, yeah super cute!!!

Tips:
~Peel paper off crayons ahead of time- especially if you have little ones! My 1 year old wanted to eat the crayons and my 2 year old just broke them all in half.
~The darker colors really take over so use them sparingly.
~You can use a mini muffin pan for smaller crayons.

The ONEder Fund

Being inspired by others is fantastic, energizing, powerful, incredible, out of this world refreshing. 2010 was quite the year for me and my family. Nothing major or earth shattering but it was filled with little things that when added together caused tremendous stress and frustration. We have been blessed with two little boys who hate sleeping, both entered this world with colic, struggle with reflux and are just overall challenging. Then I was introduced to this blog "Enjoying the Small Things" and my perspective changed. My boys are healthy and full of life. Yes I am exhausted and sleep deprived but life is good.

This blog is inspiring people all over the world. It is changing lives, spreading awarness and encouraging all of us to look at the glass half full. Please take some time and look at the blog. Read it, let it soak in and join the movement.

Let's be INSPIRED today!

The Season with a little "Extra" Love

Every season is filled with love, hugs and kisses but this season has a bit "extra". I LOVE Valentine's Day, so much in fact I unofficially changed my birthday to be on February 14th. I few years ago I announced to family and friends my birthday was moving from the month of November to the most lovely day of all. This idea took quite nicely and now that is when we celebrate.

There are many who despise the day, all the commercialism and claim it to be a "Hallmark" holiday. However I beg to differ, it is a day to love, be loved and be thankful for love. Everything is pink, red and oh so deliciously cute. The candy is sweet and decorations are over the top.

I generally don't decorate much for Easter, Halloween or Thanksgiving. Christmas we definitely decorate and fill the house but for Valentine's it is all out. I scatter the windows with cute clings, punch paper hearts and hang everywhere and put all my lovey dovey picture frames around the house. This week the spreading of love has begun and our house is slowly being overtaken by pink. Stay tuned though there will be much more to come...
